The EDAT is a fully equipped weather station built around an 8 foot tall Davis Instruments tripod tower and and OWL2e data logger. The EDAT is very versatile in that it can be built up to fit your needs. Choose from any of the sensors offered from EME Systems and add them to your EDAT tripod tower in order to make a compact, fully-functional environmental data acquisition center. The sensors you add will connect to the OWL2e multi-channel data logger, mounted on the tower, which will store up to 128 Kilobytes of information before it needs to be downloaded. The actual time between downloads will depend on how many channels are used and how often readings are taken. For example, if you record the time, date, battery Voltage and 5 channels at a rate of once per hour, 24 hours per day, the memory will last for 300 days. If, on the other hand, readings are taken for this same setup every 10 minutes, the memory will last 50 days. The OWL2e has 9 analog inputs and 8 digital I/Os. Please see the OWL2e page for more information on this rugged, multi-faceted data logger. To order an EDAT, please pick one of the models offered below. These models can be further customized to meet your needs by adding, subtracting, or substituting, sensors. If you would like to build an EDAT system from the ground up, choose the model X/RG or model XB. Following the categories are a few of examples of orders for EDAT systems. Any of the EDAT models can be modified to fit your needs. Sensors and other components can be added and removed as needed. Examples of these changes can be found in the example orders section below. Please indicate any changes on your purchase order when ordering and EDAT system.
If the prefab model EDAT systems diverge significantly from your needs, then you can design your own Custom EDAT system. If you design a custom EDAT, please contact EME Systems for a price quote.

Notice that neither the Rain Gauge nor the shelf it would sit on are present in this model (click here to see a model with the rain gauge and shelf). The mounting of the OWL enclosure on the EDAT tower can be seen in the picture at right. |

To the left is an OWL 2c mounted on the EDAT tower. Notice the UTA attached to the door of the OWL enclosure. On the right is a photo of the sensor cables coming into the OWL from the top of the tower. The design of the cable grips and the fact that they are downward facing keeps the OWL enclosure water-tight. |

At left is a photo of the foot of the tripod base which can be bolted to the surface it is standing on. Furthermore, the feet can be rotated so that the tower can stand upright on almost any slope. |
